Occupational Therapy

What is Occupational Therapy?

Our Occupational Therapists offer a holistic service to clients, their families and the teams working with them. We specialise in neurological conditions providing specialist assessment and intervention to adults, young people and children. Our therapists will work with the client and their families to set short and long term goals and these are reviewed on a regular basis. We work in partnership with other professionals to ensure a coordinated rehabilitation programme. Our therapists are highly experienced and regular professional development training ensuring that they operate within best practice guidelines and that their clinical knowledge is up to date.

Adult Occupational Therapy Service

Our aim is to improve an individual’s quality of life giving them hope for the future. This may involve teaching someone compensatory techniques and coping strategies to overcome a disability or providing them with assistive devices to maximise their independence. We can offer advice and support on all aspects of daily living skills, at home, at work and in the community, assisting an individual to achieve a balanced life style.

Paediatric Occupational Therapy Services

We recognise that parents are an integral part of the rehabilitation process and the whole family is encouraged to be involved. We not only work with children who have a wide range of physical and complex health needs but also children and young people who have cognitive and behavioural difficulties. Our therapeutic input promotes activity and participation and can combine play and exploration of the environment, education and the use of structured activities and routines.
